Every small business has a story. Ours began in 2019, when Jenifer opened Desert Nest Co. What followed were years of change, unexpected challenges, and the support of a community that helped the shop keep going.
Now, in 2026, we are beginning a new chapter together. Mariah has joined Jenifer as a co-owner, bringing a new partnership and a shared excitement for what Desert Nest Co can become.
The woman who started it all
Jenifer, Yucca Valley resident of over 20 years is Desert Nest Co’s original owner. Since opening the shop in 2019, she has guided it through the realities of running a small retail business, including the uncertainty of the pandemic.
Surviving that period is part of our story we will always carry with us. Our doors first opened before anyone knew what the coming years would bring, and we are grateful to still be here, welcoming familiar faces and new customers.
A partnership rooted in family
Our connection began long before we became business partners. Jenifer is Mariah’s mother-in-law, and Mariah is married to Jenifer’s oldest son, James.
In 2026, that family relationship grew into a business partnership. We each bring our own perspective, and we are excited to put those perspectives to work toward a shared vision for the shop. This new beginning gives us the opportunity to build on what Jenifer started while making room for fresh ideas.
Looking ahead together
This next chapter includes reintroducing Desert Nest Co to new shoppers and expanding our online presence. We want people discovering us from afar to feel connected to the same business our local community has supported over the years.
